Inspired by thesoft kitten-like buds and branches of the pussy willow tree.
According to an old Polish legend, many moons ago, a mother cat was crying at the bank of a river where her kittens were swept in. The willow at the river’s edge longed to help her, so sheswept herlong graceful branches into the waters to rescue the tiny kittens who had fallen into the river while chasing butterflies. The kittens held on tightly to the branches until they were safely brought ashore. Legend has it that each springtime thereafter, the willow branches sprouted tiny velvetbuds at their tips where the tiny kittens once held on.
