Description
septarian ‘nodule’ from Morocco.
Size 52 x 46x 29 mm
Septarian nodules are rounded ‘geode-like’ and are usually filled with some form of calcite and sometimes aragonite.
The nodules can be hollow in the center and have sharply formed white to colored calcite crystals or the ‘hollow’ interior can be completely filled with solid calcite.
These nodules were formed during the Cretaceous period, 50 to 70 million years ago.
